Who You Are: In real life I'm a civil engineer with almost 30 years with large Arkansas consulting firm. My hobby, to the exclusion of all others, is care and feeding of my Sprite, my 1962 AH 3000 Mk2 (of which I'm the original owner) and my "new" 1973 Austin Marina which I restored in 1995-97 and drive often. I've always turned my own wrenches. Oh yes, my dear wife is marginally supportive in all this but prefers her Crown Victoria.

Who You Are: I am a Purchasing Agent for a small company in San Leandro, CA who makes and sells aircraft jet engine parts for the USAF. I have owned only three LBC's among my many "wheeled toys". My first was a '68 Ford Cortina 1600 Deluxe (maybe an MBC?) that I spent a year going through the engine, tranny and electrics. It got totaled two weeks later. Next was a '62 MK II Sprite with Aluminum Olds V8 & Powerglide. It needed more help than I could give it at the time. I bought my current '64 MKII more on emotion than common sense and after I got my prize home found a lot more than I bargained for. I am determined to get it rebuilt and bring it back to life. At least I was able to drive it for about 2 years before numerous problems forced a complete teardown. Hopefully before 2000 Herbytoy will live again!

Who You Are: After working at a job I hated for far too long, I've just finished an undergraduate degree in Information Technology and am about to embark on an honours year. The lesson? Life's too short to spend it doing something you don't enjoy. I've loved these cars for years, and it's taken me this long to enter into ownership - I always thought the cars beyond me financially and technically. What a great surprise to find out I was wrong. Now I'm looking for a nice bugeye to add to the garage. Other interests? Skiing, reading, permaculture, theatre, making teddy bears!

Who You Are: I got the car for free many many years ago, and although I got it running, I never drove it much. Finally a couple of years ago I suggested selling it to my wife, who threw a fit since I drove it on our first date. So I took that as a sign that I was supposed to fix it up. It now runs great, looks great, and is more fun than I ever imagined it would be. I've been reading the list for several months now. Although I don't consider myself a mechanic, I've sure learned a lot and am very thankful to everyone on it, even if I seldom post anything.

Who You Are: I recieved my 1962 Sprite as a graduation gift. It was in a mans garage in Ohio doing nothing since 1977. I have recently started disasembling the engine and plan to put a Kent street cam, a Weber DGV carb, and a Mallory duel point vacuum advance distributor on it when I reasemble it. I will be making a web page in the future to post photo's and progress.

Who You Are: I got my Sprite as a graduation gift. It belonged to a friend of the family. It has sat since 1977 doing nothing. Almost everything has to be redone or replaced. I am determined to get it done. I remember drooling over this car as a kid and wishing it were mine. Imagine my delight when my mother handed me the key and said "It belongs to you now." I have recently found out my Sprite is a 1961 MK II but it is titled as a 1962.

Who You Are: I was born in 1971 and got my 1963 sprite in 1998. Got the bug from my brother Dave, (also on the list) who would never let me drive his MkIII, so I just had to get my own. It has a rebuilt 1098 (10CC type) containing slightly wider bores, a cam ground to 731 factory specs. It breathes in through standard HS2@ S.U's and out through an LCB extractor. I assembled the engine myself which was loads of fun and rewarding to do. I'm a scientist (chemistry) by profession but only just finished university and nobody has been game enough to employ me yet!
